Very thorough information as always. I also found that twisting "half round" wire is very unique. It is nice in a large gauge for use in a man's bracelet. It isn't quite as ornate as the square wire but is totally different.

Thanks for the insight... I was testing my new pin vise on round copper wire and was getting frustrated because it was not working!!! Your article seems to cover it all and is very clear.

Dale once again you have given me helpful info that i was lacking. I have twisted lots of wire with the pin vise and always wondered why it was not consistant from end to end when applying even pressure. The milling of the different wires is a good answer. Also, I watched a demo at Catalog in Motion this past Feb, on twisting wire and was blown away by the techniques used, just what you are recommending with a power drill or cordless screwdriver. They also used mandrels of different shapes to achieve the most marvelous coils for jump rings. I am really enjoying your tips and wish I had come across this site much sooner.....Thanks, BeBe

This information is very helpful - I have a power drill to twist wire and am amazed at how easy it is to use. What I hadn't thought about was twisting individual wire. Thanks for this article!
