Question:
How to you figure out how much wire to use when wrapping a Chinese donut? Is there a formula taking into consideration the size of the donut?
Answer:
To determine the length of wire needed for certain projects, try using a piece of thread first. Just remember to add a couple of inches to the overall length to compensate for the curves the wire will be making.

I am so pleased about this one as being new to wire sculpture I have wondered the same thing and Marcia beat me to it with her question. At least now I can be brave enough to start cutting some wire to get started as in these hard times I was lothe to waste any of it because I didn\’t know how much to cut. Well done Marcia and thank you Dale.
By the way, the chinese doughnut is really called a pi stone. Pi is pronouced “bee” ( remember when Beijing was called Peking?)

What is Chinese donut and do you have a video how to do it?
when i very first started i too was so tight with my “good” wire i would stair at a piece I wanted to do that did not have instructions but i knew i could do it from the pic or something close but would i never try, cant waist that wire. now after 6 months I have come up an answer for that fear, I cut a little extra, and every littly tiny scap silver or gold goes into my scrap bag if i can find a piece in the bag that will work for another project i will use it and if i reach 3 to 5 oz of ss or 1 gold i take it to the gold and silver trader and trade it in for some fresh brand new wire I have been lucky to find a man that does sell wire on ebay in our town so i get a really good deal through him locally so if i take is scrap or cash NO taxes and no shipping its a straight across deal you may not have something like but I am SURE that there is a silver and gold dealer in you area that will take the scrap off you hands for cash and all is not lost buy some more and have fun !
