Tool of the Week for October 29, 2012

This week’s tool: Silver Triplet 10x Power Loupe, #ELP-744.03

Video by Kate, JewelryTools.com

This week’s featured tool from JewelryTools.com is the Silver Triplet 10x Power Loupe ELP-744.03. This loupe, which comes in a self-containing case to protect the lens, provides 10 power magnification for seeing gemstones, settings, wire wraps, bails, spirals, and finishes up close.

This is a triplet loupe, which means you’ll get a lens made up of 3 lenses glued together. This triplet system is far better than a double or single lens: with 3 lenses in one, the magnification is clearer, and also the colors are more true.

To use, hold the loupe up to your eye with both eyes open (to reduce eye strain). Then bring the item that you’re examining, up to the loupe. See all the details of your wirework up close with this 10x jeweler’s loupe.

    Hi
Thanks for all your tips, I love them. I have a question. Does it matter which way up you use the loupe? This tool would make you look very professional, but not if you were using it upside down!

Hi Malone, since it’s a triplet, I think it does matter, but I think you would figure out right away which side is up!
