I love making convertible jewelry such as this piece which can be worn as a wrap bracelet or necklace. The commercial pearl and gemstone link chains are so beautiful and versatile but cost a pretty penny. This technique teaches you how to make your own. Great project for using up your excess pearls or gemstones when you have only a few left over from other projects.

Instructions
Step 1
Make this project using purchased chains such as *C8-331U, *C8-214U or follow the steps below to make your own pearl chain.

Cut 3" pieces of wire (34 total). Take 5 pieces at a time and bend at 1".

Step 2
Place the round nose pliers in the crook of the bend with the shorter side facing up.

Step 3
Wrap the short wire over the top of the pliers jaw.

Step 4
Continue to wrap the short wire all the way around the pliers jaw making a loop.

Step 5
Grasp the loop with your chain nose pliers and wrap the short wire tightly around the longer wire using your fingers or flat pliers.

Step 6
Continue wrapping 2-3 times. Trim the excess wire.

Step 7
Slide a pearl onto the wire and make a right angle bend slightly above the pearl.

Step 8
Wrap the wire around one of the jaws of your round nose pliers to create a loop, but DON'T wrap closed.

Step 9
Create 34 of these pearl links (or enough to wrap around your wrist 3 times).

Step 10
Complete the first pearl link by repeating steps 2-7 on the other side of the pearl.

Step 11
Connect 2 pearl links by slipping the first loop into the unfinished second link.

Make your wraps as in Step 6.

Cut the excess wire and you have 2 pearl links connected.

Repeat until all 35 links are connected.
