I love using black wire for a really dramatic effect and this chain link necklace is simple yet quite a stunner. You can make it in every wire color imaginable or mix your wire colors. You could even create an ombre effect using 4 different shades of the same color. I used a silver chain but you could also use the sterling silver chain with black spinel stone for a more formal effect.

Instructions
Step 1
Cut seven 10" pieces of wire. Take a piece of wire and wrap it around a large mandrel, slightly off center (I used the oval handle of my hammer).

Step 2
Continue to wrap each end around the mandrel twice ending up with each wire end across from each other.

Step 3
Bend the wire ends out at 90 degrees on opposite sides.

Step 4
Holding on to the large loops with pliers, wrap the ends tightly around the loops 3-4 times.

Step 5
Trim off the excess wire and gently squish down the wire end with the nylon pliers. Repeat on the other side and make 6 more for a total of 7.

Step 6
Connect links together using 8mm jump rings.

Step 7
This creates a chain.

Step 8
Attach a small chain to your chain links. I like a long necklace that slips over my head so I added 20 inches of chain. If you want a shorter version, add a clasp.
