Instructions
Step 1
Begin by laying out the pattern on a work mat. A work mat helps to make sure the beads do not roll off the surface you are working on.
Nancy Chase's Tulip Heart Earrings - , Contemporary Wire Jewelry, , lay out all your materials
Step 2:
Making the links
Thread a rice bead onto each headpin. Use chain-nose pliers to bend one headpin wire to a 90 degree angle about 3/4 inch away from the end of the wire.
Make a loop with the round nose pliers at the top of the bend in the wire, forming a circle.
Hold the loop with a pair of chain nose pliers. Use another pair of chain nose pliers to wrap the end of the wire tightly around the wire stem. Make two loops around the stem, then make a flush cut, to cut off any remaining wire.
Prevent a sharp edge from sticking out from the link by pressing the end firmly with chain nose pliers to flatten it into the bead link.
Pro Tip: Flush cut - Flush cutters have a flat side to the blade, and a concave side. You want the end that will be a part of your piece to have a flat, or flush end for a smooth cut to your wire design. Place the flat side of the cutters against your work, and the extra to be cut off on the concave side.

Step 3
Slide each bead up to the first wrapped loop. Hold the bead close to the stem of the loop. Make another wire wrapped loop at this end of the bead. Repeat this same process to make a loop, cut off any remaining wire, including the end of the headpin. Alternatively, you could use 24-gauge wire from a spool.

Repeat this process for all the remaining beads. You should have 2 beads strands with 3 coral beads each.

Step 4
Thread one head pin with one coral cube bead then one heart shaped bead. Make a wire wrapped loop at the top of the heart shaped bead. Repeat with the second heart drop.

Step 5
Open all eight jump rings using both sets of chain-nose pliers. Starting with the top bead, place them in between each of the beads, and the heart drops.
Use one pair of chain nose pliers to hold one jump ring and add two bead links. Place the closed loop of the first bead link into the open jump ring, then the second. Using both pair of pliers, close the jump ring around both wire loops. Continue to add each of the bead links to the jump rings, closing each jump ring as you go along the chain.

Add the final jump rings to each end of the rice bead chain. A heart drop closed loop is added to one end of the bead chain, close the loop. Then add the ear wire loop to the jump ring and the top closed loop of the bead chain. Repeat to finish the pair.

Feel the chain link for any outstanding wires to trim and flatten as needed.
