These simple-to-make earrings use only one length of wire, perfect for beginners as there is no intricate wire weaving required. They are quick and easy to create mirror image symmetry. The design can also be adapted to make a matching pendant too.

Instructions

Step 1

Cut 2 lengths of 0.8mm/ 20 gauge wire at 7 inches each.

Step 2

Create a right angle bend half-way down the wire.

Pro Tip: To make each earring at the same time to create a mirror image symmetry- bending one wire to the left and the other to the right at this point will ensure the wire on each earring will move in opposite directions to each other.

Step 3

Make a secured loop.

Step 4

Position the (heart) larger focal bead onto the wire so that it sits on top of the loop.

Step 5

Curve the wire from the loop across the bead and wrap around the wire coming out of the top of the bead to make a wrapped loop.

Step 6

Make a slightly smaller loop with the wire that is coming from the top of the bead, by bending it to one side (bend the wire on one earring to the left, the other to the right) and looping around round nose or bail step pliers, to form the loop (but do not secure it by wrapping around itself).

Step 7

Curve this back down the front of the bead, on the outside of the other wire that runs up the front of the bead.

Step 8

There should be a slight gap between the two wires curving down the front of the bead (optional) this curve should run in the opposite direction to each earring to ensure symmetry.

Step 9

Wrap the wire at both ends around the loops to secure.

Step 10

The excess wire around the top loop can be cut off and tucked in.

Step 11

Slide a smaller round bead onto the remaining wire from the bottom loop.

Step 12

Position the bead underneath the loop and bring the remaining wire round the bead.

Step 13

Bring the tail end over the front of the hole in the bead and tuck in.

Pro Tip: Use pliers to firmly press the wire around the 6mm bead where it exits the hole.

Step 14

Position your dangling bead so that the wire slightly overlaps the bottom loop and check each earring against each other for symmetry.

Step 15

Attach earring hook to the smaller loop at the top of the (heart) larger bead.
