Rainbow Moonstone is technically a white form of Labradorite, rather than being a true, geological moonstone: its color-changing pleochronic appearance comes from light reflecting off the twinning planes of, and inclusions within, its structure. Rainbow Moonstone, or White Labradorite, can also display more colors than moonstone: gem quality moonstone is limited to blue and white.
