Triple Loop Earrings

Triple Loop Earrings

Designed by Charlie Key

Skill Level: Beginner/All

Technique: Double Barrel Bail Pliers

I really enjoy making earrings. After a long day's work at my "real" job, I find it very relaxing to play with wire, and earrings are almost "instant gratification"! These earrings are really easy and fun to make. You can use a larger bead (or multiple beads) by adding 2 more inches of wire to each wire length, and then making the circles just a bit larger.

Instructions

  1. Cut one piece of 22-gauge square wire and twist it. Cut the wire in half, producing two 6" twisted pieces. On each piece, measure and mark ¾" down from one end. Use flat nose pliers to make a 90° angle at each mark.

  2. Use round nose pliers to make and then wrap in a loop at the mark on each wire.

  3. Just below each wrapped loop, use the smaller barrel of double barrel bail pliers to make a small loop, allowing the wire to spring back.

  4. Use the larger barrel of the double barrel bail pliers to make another loop, immediately after the first (allowing it to spring back). Slide on one 6mm round large-hole bead.

  5. Immediately after the larger loop, again use the smaller barrel of double barrel bail pliers to make another small loop, the same size as the first.

  6. On each earring, gently tease and feed the longer end of the wire through the circles, and wrap them together, 3 times to show. Trim any excess wire and attach ear wires.
