Chakra Pendant

Chakra Pendant

Designed by Jill Gentry © 2010

Unless I am totally snowed in, I never miss my Yoga classes. I really admire my Yoga teacher, and I designed this pendant as a gift for her (she enjoyed it so much she didn't take it off for a month!). Another way to connect with your body is through its Chakra, which uses the same colors as the spectrum or a rainbow. Be sure to see my matching Chakra Earrings pattern on the Free Wire Jewelry Patterns page, too!

The colors used in my symbolic earring design are:

RedThe first chakra relates to your will to live and your physical vitality.
OrangeThe second chakra governs reproduction, emotions and creativity.
YellowThe third chakra controls the fire of the digestion and the way you digest or process your emotions.
GreenThe fourth chakra is associated with the thymus gland, heart and circulation.
BlueThe fifth chakra concerned with the power and impact of speech.
Indigo or PurpleThe sixth chakra, known as the third eye, relates to your capacity to visualize and understand mental concepts.
Violet or WhiteThe seventh chakra relates to the integration of personality with spirituality.

Materials

  • 22-gauge square half hard wire wire: two 6" lengths, one 4" length, and one 2" length
  • 4mm round beads, 1 of each color: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and violet (or white)

Tools

Instructions

  1. Straighten, measure, and then cut all needed 22-gauge wires. Individually twist each 6" piece. Use round nose pliers to make a small loop at the end of each 6" and 4" wire.

Lay the 4" wire between the twisted wires, with all of the loops at the same end, and tape.

  3. Slide the red 4mm bead on the center, untwisted wire. Bring the twisted wire on the right side of the bead, up alongside the bead, and over the top, wrapping the wire once around the center wire, on top of the bead. Then repeat this procedure using the twisted wire on the left side of the bead.

  6. Place the double barrel bail pliers about 1/2" above the top of the pendant, on the two twisted wires, and bend them back. Form a bail as usual, using the remaining straight wire to wrap it in, 3 or 4 times to show. Trim and tuck all of the wire ends.
